The Technical University of Mombasa (TUM) has officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Kenya Institute of Supplies Examination Board (KISEB), which opens paths for supply chain professionals to advance their learning.

The signing took place on Monday, August 11, 2025 at the Vice Chancellor’s Conference Room.

The event was graced by TUM Vice Chancellor Prof. Laila Abubakar, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic, Research and Extension) Prof. Peter Gichangi, and Dean of the School of Business Dr Samson Kitheka while the parties representing KISEB included CEO Dr Fred Ongisa and the Board Chair Mr Amos Ochieng.

This strategic partnership will focus on professional certification, curriculum development, recognition of prior learning, tracer studies, emerging issues, trends in Supply Chain Management, and community outreach.

The agreement is expected to provide students and professionals with greater access to industry-recognized qualifications and practical skills, bridging the gap between academic training and industry demands.

According to Prof Laila Abubakar, the agreement reflects TUM’s commitment to fostering industry linkages and enhancing the professional growth of its students.

“This partnership with KISEB will open more opportunities for our staff members and learners to access industry-relevant training and certifications, equipping them with the skills demanded in today’s competitive market,” she said.

Both the CEO KISEB and Chairman of the Board of KISEB emphasized that the Institute is fully committed in cementing the good relationship that has existed over the years between TUM and KISEB, in line with KISEB's motto, "Elevating the Supply Chain".
