Guided by the 7th Multidisciplinary Conference theme, “Transforming Lives Through Research, Innovation and Sustainable Partnership,” the Web3Clubs x TUM Hackathon brought together innovative students and developers committed to creating impactful, real-world solutions. The event served as a powerful platform for youth-driven innovation, demonstrating how collaboration and technology can address pressing global challenges.
The hackathon emphasized the importance of sustainable partnerships in driving development, while showcasing the creativity and problem-solving potential of young innovators. Participants were inspired by Madam Bibiye Mahmoud, an academic expert, who shared valuable insights on innovation, resilience, and the future of technology, motivating teams to push beyond conventional thinking.
Several teams presented outstanding projects aligned with global development goals:
1st Place: A team from Kisii University won with their project Aquaflow, presented by Aron Barbra and Davis Ogega. The solution aims to prevent fish mortality using AI and IoT for real-time monitoring and prediction. They received Ksh 25,000 from Web3Clubs and Ksh 175,000 from the TUM Hackathon, along with a paid internship opportunity.
Second Place went to Zuri Flow, presented by Christal Rizik and Naomi Odwa from TUM, and earned Ksh 50,000. The project is a tracking system designed to detect Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) in women.
Third Place went to PichaPrint project, presented by Ali Makala from TUM, which secured third place and received Ksh 35,000. The platform enables users to prototype hardware designs through prompt-based generation.
The presentations were met with great enthusiasm from industry and innovation leaders, including Chris Achinga from Swahilipot Hub and Alex Matu, CEO of Web3Clubs, who expressed excitement over the creativity and potential demonstrated by the participants.
