TUM MANAGEMENT TRAINED ON EFFECTIVE SERVICE DELIVERY

Services at Technical University of Mombasa (TUM) are expected to improve after all the Chairpersons, Head of Departments and top management of the institution went through a three (3) days induction seminar. During the event at Kiziwi hospitality Centre that started on 29/10/2018 and ended on 30/10/2018, the participants were addressed  on  Performance Management framework, Human Resource Policies and procedures, Governance, Transformative leadership and integrity, Public Procurement, Public Financial Management, Report writing, Office etiquette and Action Planning and Course Evaluation.

 

Addressing a section of TUM staff and facilitators from Kenya School of Government, Administration Finance and Planning Deputy Vice chancellor Prof. Joseph Rasowo said the University is committed to ensure all managers shall be trained on their roles at different positions. “In the near future we shall train individual heads of department so that they can clearly understand their responsibilities. We want to improve on service delivery and teamwork to make TUM a great institution”.

 

Prof. Rasowo reiterated that more training shall be offered to the management on time management, which is a vital tool in effective leadership. “Time management is a cancer at TUM. As managers, we should lead by example,” Prof Rasowo stated.

Academics, Research and Extension Deputy Vice chancellor Prof. Engineer Rafael Mutuku commended Kenya School of Government Lecturers for their expertise. Prof. Mutuku urged TUM managers to implement the skills that they had learned to achieve the institutional objectives.
