On 27th, June 2019, a joint delegation of the AHP International, Corporate Learning Change (CLC) both from Germany and Zurcom International from South Africa visited the Technical University of Mombasa. AHP International is one of Germany’s leading private sector service providers in the field of international business development, trade and Foreign Direct Investment promotion with its headquarter in Berlin, Germany
Zurcom International (Pty) Ltd is a trade facilitation and trade investment advisory Services Company, on the other hand, Corporate Learning Change CLC teaches people and organizations to establish modern learning formats focusing on didactics and methodology, to use digital media and learning technologies effectively, and to shape changes through new learning formats and measure their success.
The delegation was received by Pro. Joseph Rasowo, DVC (AFP) who was representing the VC Prof. Laila Abubakar. The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss a range of issue in the context of Tum’s plans to embark upon digital learning, eLearning, mobile learning and refurbishment and upgrading of labs to modern labs.
While addressing the session to welcome the delegation, the DVC Prof. Rasowo, indicated that it is important to hold more of such deliberations so as to come up with workable solutions that are beneficial to all and would provide a unique experience as well as contribute to fostering a broader TUM identity. The delegation’s team leader Mr. Benedict Hartmann expressed their willingness to partner with TUM and linking the institution to another private sector. Those that would help get grants or sponsorships to help develop new labs as well as refurbish the already existing ones.
Dr. Lawrence Mukhongo, Director TVET, said that there is a need to explore ways of deepening the existing bilateral relations in key areas of TVET. He noted the Kenya government efforts in strengthening TVET institutions stating that that is the way to go. On his part, registrar PRI, Dr. Michael Saulo, spelled out Tum’s plan to come up with a modernized Innovation hub which will give some of the best students who have graduated internship for a certain period as they perfect their skills and also gain experience. He added on, research and innovation is one of the main pillars of TUM
Also in attendance were Dr. Mvurya Mgala, director ICI, Mr. Bernard Nyakundi representing faculty of Engineering and Mr. Hamisi Jitta from PRI.
The delegation was later given a tour of the various departments and labs.
