Dakar Declaration on Open Access

The Dakar Declaration on Open Access Publishing in Africa and the Global South was adopted by the delegates of the Council for the Development of Social Science Research in Africa (CODESRIA) conference on Electronic Publishing: Open Access Movement and the Future of Africa's Knowledge Economy which took place in Dakar, Senegal from March 30 - 31, April 1, 2016

The conference brought together researchers, librarians, publishers and policy makers to discuss OA in Africa and other parts of the Global South which includes Africa, Central and Latin America, and developing Asia including the Middle East.

The declaration calls for policymakers, researchers and other stakeholders in the Global South to assert their resolve to undertake research and share their research findings for improved quality of lives.
