TUM staff break ahead of August 8 Polls

Technical University of Mombasa staff take a three-week break to participate in the August 8, polls according to a communiqué from the Vice Chancellor Office.

The break that commences on Friday, August 4, 2017 comes barely a month after the university’s 13,000 plus students started their long vacation and industrial attachment after completing the second semester examinations on Friday July 7,2017.

The communiqué from Acting Vice Chancellor, Prof Laila Abubakar, datede July 20, 2017 reads in part: “I wish to inform all staff that the Technical University of Mombasa will close with effect from August 4, 2017 to August 18, 2017 to allow staff to participate in the election process”. 

Prof Laila who called on the staff to help maintain peace before, during and after the general elections, said essential services will be maintained throughout the period to meet the expectations of customers.  

The memo further adds: “However, essential services that normally run during weekends and Public Holidays will be maintained. I wish you well and urge you to maintain peace during this time”.
