Technical University of Mombasa has handed over yet another technical training institute, built on behalf of the government, to the community through.
The multimillion government-sponsored Macknnon Road Technical Training Institute was handed on to Voi based Coast Institute of Technology on Wednesday in a ceremony attended by community leaders.
Acting Vice Chancellor Professor Laila Abubakar led a high powered delegation to Mackinnon Road town that was hosted by local MCA Musa Ahmed for the handing over ceremony.
Also present were Deputy Vice Chancellors Professors Joseph Rasowo and Raphael Mutuku as well as CIT's board chair, principal and member Famuel Kachumbo, Patrick Machoni and Shila Rianga respectively among others.
“This is a golden opportunity for the community to benefit through pursuing technical and vocational training at this institute and even advance at TUM to acquire degrees,” she said.
The move comes barely a month after TUM handed over to Kenya Coast National Polytechnic the Lungalunga Technical Training Institute also constructed at Sh 54 million by the national government and the local constituency development fund.
