Acting Vice Chancellor Prof. Laila Abubakar last week proved she is down-to-earth interacting with her Technical University of Mombasa Student-innovators at the just concluded Nairobi Innovation Week.
The TUM team was the envy of other universities at the event hosted by the University of Nairobi owing to the fact that their Chief Executive Officer stood with them for a better part of the week-long innovation show.
Prof. Laila who jetted in Nairobi on the second day of the event ensured that she remained with the participants encouraging, counseling and cheering them up to the closing ceremony.
Once again, the Acting Vice Chancellor made the participants open up about the challenges they are facing within and outside campus.
“This is to affirm to that we value what you do as a university. I am impressed that TUM is well represented at this event an may I assure you of the management support all the time,” she told the youthful innovators.
Laila granted Third Year Civil Engineering Student Michael Ondoro’s request to buy the innovators a 3D printer to facilitate their innovation attempts.
“We can have the 3D Printer as requested. We believe in equipping ourselves for not only competitiveness but also make your work easier,” she said to the surprise of the students.
Several innovations from TUM showcased at the fete impressed the participants who were drawn from all the public universities in the country.
