Msambweni secondary school students & teachers tours Technical University of Mombasa

Msambweni Secondary School Students visited the Technical University of Mombasa on an Educational tour on 30th July 2014.The form three and two students were accompanied by their Physics and Biology teachers.

They were received welcomed and briefed by the Liaison officer, Technical University of Mombasa, Mr. Zedekiah. The students were briefed on the qualification requirements for admission to various courses offered at the Technical University of Mombasa.

The students were encouraged to put more effort in their studies and especially in the science subjects such as Mathematics and Physics which most of the Students tend to shy away from. The liaison officer informed the visiting students that the science subjects are a pre-requisite for admission to most of the coveted careers.

During the tour the students had an opportunity to visit various faculties, hands on experience on some of the Laboratories and workshop equipment and even joined a live lecture. The students took special interest with the marine simulator in the Faculty of Engineering &Technology among other modern laboratory equipment used for teaching, learning and research at TUM.

Other departments toured included the Computer Science and Information Technology. Mr. Samuel Muthama a Lecturer at the Department enlightened the students of Msambweni Secondary School on the IT dynamics.

At the end of the day, the Msabweni Secondary School students and teachers left TUM challenged and more focused towards improving their academic performance. They were grateful for the role TUM is playing in mentoring students in the coastal region since it became a fully-fledged University a year ago.
