Ondoro and Ndaa jointly bagged the Ksh 1,000,000 first Water Service Trust Fund Innovation Challenge award (WICA 2016) with their innovative Poseidon Pump System while Fadhil ran away with KSh 250,000 in the third place.

The innovative projects became the centre of attraction at the Kenya Water Week between November 20th and 25th,2016 at Kenyatta International Convention with Deputy President William Ruto being the Chief Guest.

The award winning Poseidon Pump System that doesn’t run on electricity, fuel, solar or wind but is aided by vehicle load in a ‘weigh-bridge’ like system that only requires a busy road for its operations.

Poseidon which is Greek word meaning  god of water can be used for irrigation, turn turbines for electricity and control-flood in flood prone whereas FadhilAqua desalination system turns salty sea water to fresh drinking water using solar heat.

The accolades to TUM ambassadors came even as the University was celebrating the churning out of its first Engineering Students on November 24 in a graduation ceremony dubbed ‘Coming of Age’ after the Engineering Board of Kenya gave a clean bill of health to its Engineering Programmes.
